The Piccolo Xpress® delivers on-site, real-time bloodwork diagnostics for care providers and their patients. Driven by the objective of a biochemical analyser for use in space, the Piccolo® technology was brought to market in 1995.
The Piccolo Xpress® is purpose-built to deliver critical point-of-care blood chemistry diagnostics, so that you—and your patients—don’t have to wait. Used in just about every conceivable medical environment, our platform is right at home in clinics, hospitals, research labs, field units, and more. It is employed in oncology clinics, urgent care and infusion centers to provide rapid, on-site, laboratory-quality blood chemistry results in about 12 minutes.

The Piccolo Xpress® chemistry analyser enables you to perform routine, multi-chemistry panels using just four drops of whole blood, serum or plasma. Our patented system leverages single-use reagent discs that contain up to 31 specific tests, and all you need to provide is 100 microliters of a patient’s sample.
The menu features 31 blood chemistry tests that range from liver, kidney and metabolic functions to lipids, electrolytes, and other specialty analytes for routine test, general health screening, and chronic conditions.

Piccolo® reagent panels make testing easy.
Piccolo® reagent discs are fully self-contained single-use chemistry panels designed to address a variety of conditions. Just 4 drops of whole blood are required to deliver up to 14 accurate results.
The Piccolo reagent disc is composed of three ultrasonically welded plastic parts that contain the diluent, dry reagent beads and barcode. With it, care providers can perform a complete panel of up to 14 chemistry tests on-site in about 12 minutes1.

Step 1: Add Sample
Collect 100 microliters of whole blood, serum or plasma and transfer it to the self-contained reagent disc. Our single-use discs contain all the reagents and diluent necessary to perform a complete, multi-test chemistry panel.
Step 2: Insert Disc
Simply follow the touch screen commands. Press “Analyze Sample”, then place the disc into the retractable drawer. Enter the requested information and the Piccolo Xpress does the rest; your results will be ready in about twelve minutes.
Step 3: Read Results
Complete panel results—including patient demographics, chemistry concentrations, reference ranges, sample integrity indices and iQC®—are available on the integrated, full-color display. Outcomes can also be printed onto a self-adhesive roll-tape, or transmitted to an external printer, computer or LIS/EMR system. The Piccolo Xpress stores up to 5000 patient results.
